“If I like the right music then girls will like me.”
by Dan Sicko Nov 27, 2009 in genresMusic classification is just so much more honest when it’s personal. I love this little system Russell Davies cooked up and will undoubtedly find a way to use it. A “music snobbery bell curve?”
I’m on some similar track now, perhaps having worn out some of the fun of the random shuffle and am diving back into albums. There’s a bit of filter on that too: I’m especially interested in albums recorded pre-CD, where a concept had to be concise to fit on two sides of vinyl.
Or maybe that’s my excuse to relisten my teens.

old-school double albums were the shit too, though. albums have remained my preferred listening format, along with deejay mixes. “shuffle” holds no place in my music listening habits!
my music snobbery was accelerated i think, as i went into the jazz, blues, and world music shit around age 20. but let’s just hope i never go back to the shit i was listening to at 17, as generally that was pretty harsh and heavy. i dont think i could handle it even now, i’m too damn old. in fact, i think i am entering the “middle aged black woman” period of my musical growth where shit like patti labelle, maxwell, sade, toni braxton, luther vandross, and anita baker sound better than most everything else i hear.
