One question and one question only:

What’s your favorite full length album of this decade, and why?

Actually, I have three absolute favorites: The Field - From Here We Go Sublime, Pan Sonic - Kesto, and Snd - Atavism.

Out of those three, I think I’d have to pick Kesto. *Every* CD is killer stuff.

Using Other People’s Lists as a filtering mechanism, I’m left with Radiohead -Kid A, Amy Winehouse - Back to Black, but give the top spot to MIA - Arular.

It was truly something we hadn’t heard before, and at the time it dropped, everyone was predicting that Baile-funk and third-world cross-cutural hip-hop was ready to go mainstream. Only one artist caught that break (so far).

    Oh, plus hotness.

I’m leaning towards Beck’s “Sea Change” at the moment. I’m still at a loss though. Wish there was a comprehensive list of major albums released this year that isn’t through an editorial filter (pitchfork, wire etc).

my #1 choice was easy, J Dilla’s Donuts. why? it elicits nearly every emotion from extreme sadness to extreme joy and everything inbetween. a complete journey, done with records and a sampler. to me, this is possibly the best record that has been made in my lifetime.

the rest of my top three are Thom Yorke’s The Eraser and Jill Scott’s Who Is Jill Scott?, both of which are beautiful and have already stood the test of more repeat listens than i could even guess at.

Donuts right now is top 5 along w sea change gas’ pop album, moodymann, and jay z. But I’m still trying to figure out what goes where

I haven’t given this a ton of thought, but “Madvillainy” would have to be a contender. I’m still playing it on a weekly basis. It was also the first release in a long time to actually feel cohesive, like albums used to be. You know, before the CD kinda mucked up the crucial editing process.

    I’m partial to Luomo’s Vocalcity.

I’d probably go with Broadcast’s “Haha Sound” at this point — I can’t think of any other band this decade that was so able to make the avant garde so user-friendly, nay _catchy_.

I’ve gotta go for Burial — Untrue. How he managed to outdo his self-titled debut is still beyond me. Remarkable stuff. Fresh.
